JAZZ

The West Ranch High School Studio A Jazz Band is made up of some of the finest young jazz musicians in the Santa Clarita Valley and each year the ensemble is one of the top performing groups in the William S. Hart School District. 

The Studio A Jazz Band has toured and performed all over the state, playing for the Jazz Education Network Conference, California Music Education Association State Conference, at the Next Generation Festival as part of the Monterey Jazz Festival, and annually as a featured group at Disneyland. 

In recent years, the ensemble has won 1st Place Awards at regional jazz festivals held at Newbury Park High School, Westlake High School, South Hills High School, and Mt. San Antonio College.  In their annual winter concert, the Studio A Jazz Band premiers a variety of pieces written for big band as part of concerts featuring new works for jazz, including compositions by local and national jazz composers, as well as current and former students.

The West Ranch Jazz Program consists of two jazz bands and two jazz combos and annually hosts a jazz festival every May, Super Jazz at the Ranch. The festival features over 30 local schools performing and competing, special groups and guest artists, and professional jazz musicians giving adjudication and clinics.
